Uzbekistan and climate change problem
Public Awareness on climate change problems
The work on increasing of public awareness level on climate change problems is being held in Uzbekistan. National experts on climate change have participated on seminars in different regions of the country (Bukhara, Samarkand, Urgench). Lections with participation of local specialists and mass-media representatives were held in different Universities and Institutes. In purpose of increasing of public awareness on climate change problems a serie of seminars for the representatives of relevant sectors of national economy, agencies, joint-stock companies and non-governmental organizations in Tashkent were held.
Publishing house of "Uzhydromet" published the following science climate change bulletins:- "Main results of GHG inventory";
- "Basis technological needs of Uzbekistan on GHG emission reduction and negative consequences of climate change;
- "Regional climate scenarios and possible influence of climate change on agriculture and wood plants";
- "Assessment of water resources vulnerability from climate change";
- "Climate change assessment on the territory of Republic of Uzbekistan and development of methodological approach on vulnerability assessment’.
A lot of work has been done, but, unfortunately, it is not enough, because citizens of Uzbekistan have not yet started worrying for our future climate.
At present time the UNEP project, Phase II, "Implementation of the UNFCCC Article 6 on education, training and public awareness on climate change problem in Uzbekistan" is realizing.
